2021 Tax Rate

The Board of Selectmen and NH Department of Revenue have finalized the 2021 tax rate of $14.47 per thousand dollars of assessed property value. The 2020 tax rate was $14.47 and the 2019 tax rate was $14.23.

There are four components of the tax rate: Municipal, Local School (Interlakes School District), State Education, and County. The Selectmen’s decisions only impact the municipal portion of the tax rate.

The Selectmen have been pleased to see COVID-19 has minimally impacted Town revenues and expenses this year, resulting in a surplus that may be used to reduce the tax rate and/or for capital reserves. During last night’s work session, the Board discussed their desire to minimize impact to taxpayers while retaining funds to offset multiple significant capital expenses anticipated in the 2022 budget. The Selectmen agreed to apply $165,000 of the Town’s unexpended fund balance (surplus) to lower the municipal portion of the total tax rate to $4.94.
