USDA Forest Service - Public Comment Period, Ash Insecticide Injections
The White Mountain National Forest (WMNF) will begin a 30-day comment period for the Forest-Wide Ash Insecticide Injections in New Hampshire and Maine projects on Thursday, February 8, 2024. The Forest-Wide Ash Insecticide Injections in New Hampshire and Maine projects are located in ash stands across the forest (please see map on the project websites) in New Hampshire and Maine. The purpose of the projects is to implement the management direction in the 2005 WMNF Land and Resource Management Plan (Forest Plan). Each state will have its own insecticide injections project. There will be a comment period and project website for each project, one for New Hampshire and one for Maine. Project information, including the project newsletter, is available on the project websites: https://www.fs.usda.gov/project/?project=63879 and https://www.fs.usda.gov/project/?project=63880. The Forest Service is emphasizing electronic correspondence throughout this project. Please submit your comments through the online comment form accessed by clicking on "Comment on Project" on the right-hand side of each project website. If you need to make alternate arrangements for submitting comments, please contact Scott Hall, project NEPA planner, at firstname.lastname@example.org, or at 603-536-6226. Comments must be received by March 8, 2024. This project is anticipated to be categorically excluded from further NEPA under Section 603 of the Healthy Forest Restoration Act for the project in New Hampshire and 36 CFR 220.6 (e) (25) for the project in Maine. Please note that the procedures for legal notice and opportunity to comment under 36 CFR Part 218 do not apply to projects and activities which are categorically excluded from documentation in an Environmental Assessment or Environmental Impact Statement, pursuant to 36 CFR 218.23.
