Headquartered in Center Sandwich, the volunteer Sandwich Fire Department provides primary fire and emergency medical services to the citizens of Sandwich.
The Fire Department has 14 active members. Any resident over 18 years of age can apply to join the SFD; while those 16 and older may join as cadets.
The Fire Department has three Class A pumpers, a light rescue vehicle, two forestry vehicles, an ATV, and two boats to assist their efforts.
Online Fire Permits: Fire Permits for outside burning are now available online for the Town of Sandwich. The website is www.nhfirepermit.com. IMPORTANT - make sure you read the explanations for the different types of fires. The fee is $3.00 and payable by credit card to the State for each permit. At the end of the transaction, you will be able to print the permit. This is very important in the event there are any questions, and the Fire Department is called, so print the permit.
Permits are still available at the usual locations.
