Dr. Chris Neefus has a PhD in Botany and teaches multiple mushroom focused courses and workshops including a full semester field and lab course on New England Mushrooms that covers mushroom ecology, taxonomy, identification, cultivation, and cooking. He is also a longtime member of the Boston Mycological Club where he has led numerous mushroom walks and has served on the club’s ID and Executive Committees. Chris recently moved to Sandwich, New Hampshire. In his spare time, he is an avid forager and grows a variety of mushrooms.
Youth Services Programming Librarian - The Samuel H. Wentworth Library is seeking an energetic, enthusiastic, and organized individual who enjoys working with youth of all ages to create and run our youth programs and provide occasional general library support. This is an 8 hour a week, part-time position that requires some availability after school (September to June), either a Thursday or Friday morning weekly, and one Saturday morning a month. This position is appointed by the library trustees and is supervised by the library director.

TELESCOPE TO CHECK OUT - The library telescope program was launched in 2008 by the New Hampshire Astronomical Society. Our telescope is a manageable size but has a relatively large optical tube. This means that the Moon and deep sky objects will show far more detail than one could see with the common "beginners" telescopes. It provides a large field of view that allows the object to stay in the eyepiece longer. Comes with instructions."BOOKS SANDWICHED IN" - "Books Sandwiched In" is a series of presenter-led book reviews and discussions hosted by the Friends of the Samuel H. Wentworth Library. The 2023-24 series has finished for the season. Links to recordings of each of the season's titles are listed below. Check back in the fall for a list of the 2024-25 series titles and presenters.
